Family Medicine Specialist

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln
  • Graduate from the University of Nebraska Medical Center
  • A fellow of American Family Physicians and have continued on a regular basis to receive this Certificate of Recognition from the American Health Foundation of America, for continuing Medical Education.
  • Joined the Plum Creek Medical Group staff in July 1980.

Areas of Medical Expertise:

Obstetrics, minor surgeries, sigmoidoscopies, treadmills and other procedures. Special interest in public health, preventive health care, mental, spiritual and physical wellness.


Dr. Jones lives in Lexington with his wife, Patricia. They have three daughters, one son and eight grandchildren.


Interests mostly revolve around family, church and regular bicycle exercise. He served 16 years on the Lexington School Board. He is active on a number of committees such as Lexington Drug Council and other committees that involve school and health concerns. Hobbies include spending time with his grandchildren, reading, exercising and attending Husker games.


In 2009, Dr. Jones received the Family Physician of the Year Award in the state of Nebraska. He also was named State Medical Director of the Year in 2001 and UNMC Alumnus of the Year in 1993. In 1983, he was voted Jaycee Outstanding Young Man.
